I learned a great deal about the type of person, manager, and leader I am through my sessions with Eric.
It took me years to figure out that effective leadership is like an effective golf swing – the harder you try, the more mulligans you need.
People don’t follow you because you are trying hard to be a leader. People follow you because you have a picture of where you want to go, an expertise regarding how to get there, and an appreciation for how others can be part of the accomplishment. In the end, you really can’t get people to follow you. You have to be yourself, stand for what you believe in, invest in other people – and they will follow of their own accord.
